A Troy man made an awful decision while attempting to flee from the police. In the midst of his attempt to escape he shot himself in the leg.

A 27-year old Schenectady man has learned how long he will spend in prison for his conviction for raping a child under 15 years of age.

A simple traffic stop in Albany leads to a 19-year woman from Troy being arrested on drug charges.

The Colonie Police Department was able to apprehend one suspect involved in the incident.  On Friday they arrested 23-year old Schenectady resident, Paul A.L. Streeks.

The two men are accused of taking a 16-year girl to a hotel room in Malta overnight on January 27 and January 28. The two men allegedly gave the young girl alcohol and drugs and then proceeded to have sexual contact with her

The tragic death of a four-year-old foster child in Rotterdam led to the arrest of both of his foster parents.

February 11, 2020, officers were called because Mr. Vargas was on a CDTA bus causing a disturbance and urinating while on the bus.  

Officers with the Albany Police Department report that they responded to the area of Orange Avenue. They recovered a revolver, a 12 gauge shotgun, a 45 caliber revolver, a 40 caliber handgun, a 357 magnum revolver, a 38 caliber revolver, and a 9 mm handgun.

The Albany County Sheriff's Office stopped 31-year old Markus Planku around 2:52 a.m. for speeding. The vehicle was stopped on Rt. 9W in the City of Albany. Charges include the third-degree (Class D. Felony); Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second-degree (Class C Felony); Unlawful Possession of Marijuana (Misdemeanor); and Speeding (Traffic Violation).

Mr. Ojeda had pleaded guilty to manslaughter. He admitted that the baby ingested methamphetamine while he was caring for his child. Mr. Ojeda did not call for medical assistance for his child until it was too late.

According to District Attorney P. David Soares, Mr. Smith was sentenced to nine years in State Prison and will be under five years of supervised parole after he is released.

40-year-old Anthony Thompson, of Green Island, was involved in a domestic dispute with an unnamed victim. Police investigated the incident and executed a search warrant on his home.

Investigators arrested 32-year-old Michael Lamalfa of Schenectady and charged him with Grand Larceny after he was picked up by the Niskayuna Police on charges that were not related to this incident.

On June 13th, 54-year-old Gregorie Smith accidentally shot his 10-year-old daughter in the back while she was in her bedroom.

Wayne Samuels was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd and 3rd degrees (felony offenses); Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 2nd and 3rd degrees (misdemeanor offenses); No Front Plate and Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle (traffic offenses).

When officers searched Vazquez’s backpack, they discovered a loaded sawed-off shotgun. Officers confiscated the Stoeger 12-gauge shotgun loaded with 12 gauge shotgun shells.

20-year-old Landers Burton, was arrested at 1:45 p.m. Troy Police Department say that Mr. Landers used candy paper wrappings to conceal his drugs.

45-year-old Matthew Peters has been arrested.  According to authorities, the Schenectady resident initiated and exchanged sexually explicit text messages with an undercover officer between October 2 and October 7.

Colonie Police Arrest Teen With an Illegal Handgun, A search of the teen's vehicle revealed that he had a .38 Smith and Wesson handgun that was loaded with six rounds.

Murder suspect, 20-year old Jahquay Brown, pleaded not guilty in the Rensselaer County Court. Brown is charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of the 11-year-old.
