A 27-year old Schenectady man has learned how long he will spend in prison for his conviction for raping a child under 15 years of age.

Or May 20, 2021 a Schenectady man appeared in court and pleaded guilty to raping a child under the age of fifteen. On Monday, he received his sentencing.

According to News6, 27-year old Joshua Vazquez pleaded guilty in May to one count of second-degree Rape (Felony), one count of first-degree Criminal Sexual Act (Felony) and one count of fourth-degree Criminal Solicitation (Misdemeanor).

According to court records Mr. Vasquez engaged in sexual intercourse with a female under the age of 15. He also admitted to engaging in oral sex with the same female and using force against her. In addition, he admitted to attempting to have a third party pay the victim to drop the charges.

The charges stem from two separate incidents involving a 13-year old girl in April and May, 2019. Apparently Mr. Vasquez was familiar with the child and her family.

Mr. Vasquez was 25-years old when he engage in multiple sexual acts with a girl, sometimes in her family’s home. Initially Mr. Vasquez was charged with 24 criminal acts, including providing marijuana to the child.

In accordance with the terms of his guilty plea, he has been sentenced to 15 years in prison and 25 years of parole after his release from jail.

This is another sad incident of sexual violence toward a child by a known family “friend“. Please be diligent with your children and keep them safe.
