Two men allegedly found a "creative" way to sell drugs in the Town of Colonie, New York. Instead of selling drugs from their homes, they decided that it would be a better idea to sell them out a hotel room during a global pandemic. Apparently they were not as clever as they thought they were because they allegedly got caught red-handed. A hotel room in Colonie was the scene of the recent drug arrests. On Wednesday detectives executed a search warrant and discovered a large stash of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

An investigation lead the Albany County Sheriff’s Department to the hotel room where they made two arrests. Brayton Whitney (37) and Leonard Pitcher were both arrested in the hotel room. Officers discovered the two men allegedly selling drugs and confiscated paraphernalia as well as the drugs. Pitcher was caught with over 1.5 ounces of methamphetamine, a digital scale and package materials. Whitney had methamphetamine, packing materials, and a digital scale.

The two men were charged with a multitude of offenses. Both men were charged with one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the fourth degree which are felony offenses. They were also charged with misdemeanor offenses; two counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree and Aggravated Unlicensed Operations in the Third Degree.

Brayton Whitney was also charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree and two counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree.

Both men were arrested and logged at the Albany County Correctional Facility as pre-arraigned detainees and scheduled to be arraigned at the Albany County Court. Brayton Whitney was released on an appearance ticket and must return at a later date to the Town of Colonie Court. I'm not sure why these guys thought to trap out the hotel, was a good idea during a global pandemic.
