Today is election day across the Capital Region.  There are many Democratic primaries going on across the region.  This is the time when local politicians are elected and they have huge impact on all of our day-to-day lives.

Candidate For Schenectady County Legislator Omar McGill stopped by Hot 991 to discuss his future in politics. Election Day is today Omar McGill is running for Legislature For District 1 In Schenectady.

Omar is born and raised in Schenectady, he currently resides in the Stockade District. This is Omar's first try at being elected for the legislature, he currently works with the state Senate. Omar is a graduate of Morehouse University and has been part of community activism for years.

Omar has a simple statement for his campaign and that is transparency. He believes government should be simplified for all people and the community deserves to know what politicians and government are doing for their neighborhoods on a daily basis.

Omar will be the first black man elected to the Schenectady County Legislative branch. This will be a momentous election for a county that has been incorporated since 1798. Omar stopped by to explain his stance on certain issues and encourage the community to go out and vote.
