Starting next week on November 13th, the state's minimum age to buy tobacco and electronic cigarette products will be pushed to the age of 21 from 18, reported from nbcny.
Gov. Cuomo's announced - Adults under 21 won't be able to buy vape pods, cigarettes or any tobacco products. New York’s High School smoking rate has dropped a record low of 4.3 percent in 2016. According to the Department of Health 40 percent of 12th grade students and 27 percent of high school students in New York state are using e-cigarettes.
Department of Health has conduct 1,700 undercover investigations across the state since July outside of New York City. Any
Retailers found selling tobacco and vaping products to individuals under the age of 21 will face criminal penalties and fines.
