On Saturday May 12th, we're holding our first NBA 2K12 video game tournament at Maggie's Sports Bar - 1186 Western Ave., Albany! 

The first 16 people to sign up will play for ultimate bragging rights and some pretty sick prizes!  Teams will not be duplicated by players, so the teams you request are not guarenteed.  First come, first serve! 

Make sure you bring your family, neighbors, friends or whoever else will give you the competitive edge.  Trash talking is PERMITTED!   Just make sure if you or your crew is talking smack you can back it up.

Description of the Contest and How To Enter
:

To participate in the contest, listeners must visit hot991.com, select the link for this contest and follow the instructions to register to participate in the NBA 2k12 tournmanet that will be taking place on Saturday, May 12th, 2012 from 2pm-6pm at Maggie’s Sports Bar. Entrants must provide their name, address, phone number, e-mail address, date of birth, and list 5 professional basketball teams in order of preference (i.e. first choice, second choice, third choice, fourth choice, fifth choice) that they would like to play as in the tournament for which they are registering. Entrants may only select current pro basketball teams that appear in the NBA 2k12 video game. If an entrant’s first team of choice has already been selected by an entrant who registered prior, then they will be given their second choice team; if the second choice team has already been selected by an entrant who registered prior, then they will be given their third choice team…and so on; and if all five choices have already been selected by other entrants, then, provided teams are still available, a station representative will call/e-mail the entrant to give them a list of available teams from which to choose from. The station will choice sixteen (16) eligible entrants who register for the 5/12/12 tournament to participate in the contest on the tournament date for which they registered.  A station representative will call the 16 entrants prior to the tournament date to confirm participation. Entry into the tournament will be granted on a first come, first served basis until sixteen (16) slots have been filled.

 

For the tournament, the 16 entrants will be randomly assigned to a 16 team bracket by tournament organizers. Play will begin at 2pm and players must be signed in at least 20 minutes prior to the start of the tournament to remain eligible to participate. Tournament brackets will be posted at the tournament site 10 minutes prior to the start of the tournament. The tournament format is a 1 vs. 1 format. Before each game of the tournament, the organizer will flip a coin and the winner of the coin toss will decide if he/she wants to be the home or away team. This is a single elimination tournament, with no pausing, delays or rewinds allowed. If a player does pause a game (by hitting the START button), then they will be penalized one (1) timeout. If the player has no timeouts left, the player will be required to turn the ball over to the other player. The player that wins the game will advance to the next round of the tournament; any player that loses a game will be eliminated from the tournament.

 

No gaming consoles will be available for warm-up prior to the competition. All consoles, games, and controllers will be supplied at each tournament. The Xbox 360 system will be used in each tournament. No cheats will be allowed, nor will the use of objects external to the controllers be allowed. Should a participant be caught cheating or using an external object, they will be immediately disqualified.

 

Game settings will be as follows:

-          Quarter length: 4 minutes

-          Skill: Super Star

-          All other settings will be default.

 

Overtime will decide all ties. Rosters as provided from the inception of the game will be used.  

 

By participating in this tournament, competitors agree to be bound by the decisions of the tournament organizers. Persons who violate any rule, gain unfair advantage in participating in the tournament, or obtain winner status using fraudulent means will be disqualified. No sideline coaching or gambling on games allowed. Unsportsmanlike, disruptive, annoying, harassing or threatening behavior is prohibited. Foul language of any kind will not be permitted or tolerated. No memory cards or saved games allowed. Shaking, jiggling (looking left and right in rapid succession to shake the screen) is prohibited. Any other action designed to disrupt the opposing player’s view of the game, or ability to select controlled players, is prohibited. All scores are final, negative remarks to the Tournament Administrator or personnel of the tournament organizers will not be tolerated. The tournament organizers will interpret the rules and resolve any disputes, conflicting claims or ambiguities concerning the rules of the tournament and the tournament organizers’ decisions concerning such disputes will be final. If the conduct or outcome of the tournament is affected by human error, any mechanical malfunctions or failures in any kind, intentional interference or any event beyond the control of the tournament organizers, the tournament organizers reserve the right to terminate the tournament, or make such other decisions regarding the outcome as the tournament organizers deem appropriate. Any intentional distraction to the players while they are playing will result in immediate disqualification and removal from the premises, including turning off the game. Controllers are supplied by the tournament. If controller is defective, a player will be permitted to pause the game to notify a tournament organizer. If a player plays with a defective controller, all results are counted. All decisions will be made by tournament organizers and are final. The tournament organizers may waive any of these rules in their sole discretion and/or may make determinations and rulings that are contrary to rules in the spirit of fairness.

Valid Contestants must be at least 21 years of age to participate. 

Dates of Contest:
The Hot 99.1 NBA 2k12 Tournament will begin on 4/20/12 at 12:00pm and will end on 5/12/12 at 6:00pm.   

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. PURCHASE DOES NOT INCREASE ODDS OF WINNING. Void where prohibited. All decisions of the judges will be final.

Grand Prize Winner:

Prize(s).  One (1) grand prize will be awarded in this contest, a (dollar amount) gift card from (prize provider).

The Station reserves the right to post or not to post the grand prize winner on Hot 99.1’s website—www.hot991.com. 

Prizes are not transferable, redeemable for cash or exchangeable for any other prize.  All prizes must be redeemed within 30 days of the contest end date.   If a winner cannot be contacted or is disqualified, the Company reserves the right to determine an alternate winner or not to award that winner’s prize, in its sole discretion.

Winner will be notified on-site and provided with the prize.

Release.  By participating in the Contest, each participant and winner waives any and all claims of liability against the Company, its employees and agents, the Contest’s sponsors and their respective employees and agents, for any personal injury or loss which may occur from the conduct of, or participation in, the Contest, or from the use of any prize.  In order to receive a prize, participants must sign an official waiver form provided by the Company.

Taxes.  Any valuation of the prize(s) stated above is based on available information provided to the Company, and the value of any prize awarded to a winner may be reported for tax purposes as required by law.  Each winner is solely responsible for reporting and paying any and all applicable taxes related to the prize(s) and paying any expenses associated with any prize which are not specifically provided for in the official rules.  Each winner must provide the Company with valid identification and a valid taxpayer identification number or social security number before any prize will be awarded.  Any person winning over $600 in prizes from the Company will receive an IRS form 1099 at the end of the calendar year and a copy of such form will be filed with the IRS.
