Western Massachusetts was the closest pediatric emergency department but now this becomes the only one in Northeastern New York.
It is state of the art with twelve treatment rooms, two procedure rooms, there are four trauma bays and four triage rooms. All of the equipment in these rooms are designed with kids in mind. Kids from birth to 17 years old will be treated.
The medical staff is trained in treating kids and supporting the families. The facility is designed to improve how the little patients are treated and to focus on the children's needs.
The Massry Family Children's Emergency Center at Albany Med is named after donor Norman Massry who is a dad and grandfather himself. He said it has been wonderful to have created such a place that provides care for kids.
