Governor Cuomo Announces More COVID-19 Vaccination Sites
Today Governor Andrew Cuomo gave his weekly COVID-19 briefing and he announced that more vaccination sites will be opening, with the help of the federal government.
Governor Cuomo said that New York State will begin a new partnership with the federal government to bring COVID-19 vaccinations to areas that are considered more vulnerable. The state is looking to use large stadiums to host the vaccination sites.
Governor Cuomo says that the federal government has promised additional doses for the joint venture, to vaccinate New Yorkers who are disproportionately impacted by the pandemic. The new locations will be staffed by federal employees as well as state employees.
Governor Cuomo said that the state wants to make sure that everyone who wants to be vaccinated from the virus can have access to the vaccine. He noted that healthcare disparities have significantly touched some people. Minorities and lower-income people have been shown to be significantly and disproportionately impacted by the virus.
We’ve all heard about the shortage of vaccines throughout the country. The Biden administration has vowed to make the COVID-19 pandemic one of their top priorities.
Although the vaccines have been deemed effective as well as safe, some people are still very hesitant about the vaccines.
The government has to take on the task of educating everyone about the virus and how the vaccine can help. Many in the minority community are hesitant about receiving the vaccine because of the government's long history of using Black people as guinea pigs in medical experiments.
Do your research for yourself, use your own mind to determine whether the vaccine is for you. What are your thoughts? Are you willing to take the vaccine when it’s your turn?
