ASAP Rocky Not Allowed to Perform at Swedish Prison He Was Held In
A$AP Rocky won't be able to perform at the Swedish prison he was once held at.
On Wednesday (Dec. 4), Vilhelm Grevik of Sweden’s Prison and Probation Service told the Swedish daily newspaper Svenska Dagbladet that the Harlem rapper is prohibited from performing at the prison he was held at over the summer. They cite security and logistics issues as being the reason.
The Testing rapper is scheduled to perform on Dec. 11 at the Ericsson Globe Arena in the country's capital Stockholm, which is the same city where Rocky got into an altercation with a Swedish man named Mustafa Jafari. The conflict led to Rocky's arrest on July 2. Rocky claimed he acted in self-defense, but he and his two associates were charged with assault. The A$AP Mob boss was held at Kronoberg prison until the end of his trial in August.
After his release, Rocky and his crew were found guilty of assault. All three were given "conditional sentences," which means they won't be forced to serve prison time unless they commit a similar offense in the future. During his first performance as a free man in the United States, Rocky reflected on his time in the Swedish prison and called it a scary yet humbling experience.
"I just want to say, what I experienced it’s crazy," Rocky told the crowd at the 2019 Real Street Festival in California. "I’m so happy to be here y’all don’t even understand. I'm so happy to be here right now. That was a scary, humbling experience, but I'm here right now god is good."
Here's to hoping Rocky puts on a dope performance in Sweden next week.
