People in Cohoes aren’t accustomed to seeing a shootout on of their streets, but that’s exactly what they saw on Sunday, May 10, 2020.

According to News 10, on an average Sunday afternoon in Cohoes, a little after 4 p.m., shots ran out near the intersection of Main and George Streets. We are in the midst of a vicious pandemic that has taken the lives of more than 85,000 Americans, but a woman decided to pull out a weapon and shoot two women in broad daylight.

Two women in a vehicle flagged down an Albany police officer at the intersection of Henry Johnson Blvd. and Second St. shortly after 4:00 p.m. to report the incident. It is believed that the two women in the car were the victims of the senseless shooting. Cohoes Police Department made a statement saying there was shooting at the intersection of Main Street and George Street. The officers determined that a verbal dispute among a group of people, who knew each other, escalated into a fight and the fight eventually turned into a shooting. Police believe that the women were all involved in some sort of domestic situation. A third unidentified person was also interviewed by the police.

The police have determined that the gun used in the shooting was properly registered and was legally owned at the time of the incident. After being interviewed by the police the two women drove themselves to the Albany Medical Center. They were both treated and released from the hospital.

The witnesses were not completely cooperative with the police and they do not have any suspects in custody at this time. Police ask for people to come forward if they believe they can be helpful with the investigation.

This is OD ratchet behavior right here. Ladies, we have to do better. We should all remember that we need to look out for one another and take care of one another, we are still in the middle of a pandemic after all!
