It looks like retailers may have bought themselves some time before the plastic bag ban really takes effect on retailers across the Capital Region.

If you weren't aware there is now a ban on plastic bags across the state. In an effort to reduce environmental damage, New York along with eight other states has banned single-use plastic bags.

Bag manufacturers and convenience store owners have filed a lawsuit against the state. The lawsuit argues that the ban is unconstitutional.

This lawsuit seems kind of frivolous being that plastic bags weren't even created yet when the constitution was created, and the country didn't face the environmental factors that we currently are facing.

What do you think? Do you agree with the plastic bag ban? I don't really think it's that big of a deal— pay the extra for the paper bags or bring your own. The case will be heard in the Albany Supreme Court later on this month.
