Passport Issues Delay Return Of New York Giants Scottish Punter

It is the worst when you go on a long trip, you get on the plane, and oh no! You forgot something. So, there had better be a good reason when you are an NFL team, returning from a game in England, and you get on the plane without your punter. Well, for New York Giants there seems to be and explanation.

According to Art Stapleton of northjersey.com, Gillan did not travel back to New Jersey with the team following Sunday's 27-22 victory over the Green Bay Packers played in England. The report says that the Big Blue punter is a native of Scotland and moved to the United States as a teenager. Apparently, there is an "issue that slipped through the cracks" with Gillan's visa and passport.

Stapleton reported that Jamie Gillan was born and raised in Scotland before he moved to southern Maryland as a teenager when his father, Colin, a navigator in the Scottish Royal Air Force, was transferred to the United States. As part of the Scottish military family, Gillan traveled to the U.S. under a NATO visa. Apparently, the Giants and the 25 year-old punter known as "The Scottish Hammer" were aware of the issue prior to traveling for the overseas game.

The reports says that the expectation is that Gillan will have his new passport by Thursday. The Giants expect him to return immediately following the completion of the paperwork.
