Palace Sessions Alive At 5 Virtual Concert Series Coming Soon
If you’ve ever lived in Albany you know that the Palace and the Summer Concert Series is really big here. If you’re worried about missing it this summer, you shouldn’t because the series will be held digitally this summer.
Alive at Five outdoor concert series has been a major event in the Capital Region for more than 30 years. This year, due to COVID-19, the Palace Session will be held online in digital form.
According to New 10, Public Relations Coordinator for The City of Albany Office Cultural Affairs, reassures us that one of the city's favorite events will happen this summer, but it will be very different. The series will be featured in cinematic form and will feature four different local artists. Each of the presentations will be filmed at The Palace and they will include facts about The Palace.
Senior Director of Operations and Programming, Danny Taylor, is also involved in the upcoming series of events. He said, “This is a highlight of our month, to be honest with you. We were really static when they (Mirth Film) brought it to us. It’s something that needs to happen, supporting local artists and venues and businesses.“ Mirth Film is a local production company that is involved in helping Summer Concert Series happen.
The first of the concert series will be posted on July 15 and will feature the band ‘Wurliday’. It will be good for the city of Albany to have something so enjoyable and familiar to us during this uncertain time. Hopefully, there will still be a virtual reggae and hip hop night. I've DJed at both nights in the past and I’m looking forward to seeing how the digital form of the summer concert series plays out. What about you, are you looking forward to Alive at Five?
