Have you ever wanted to learn to snowshoe, cross country ski, ice fish, or maybe just consume as much hot chocolate as possible? One Saratoga County town is throwing a town-wide festival to highlight all these winter activities and more.

Saturday (2/12) is supposed to be upwards of 50 degrees, ironically, it's the day Clifton Park is scheduled to hold its annual Winterfest celebration. Although snow may be scarce, there are a number of activities happening all over town.

Many of the day's events will be held outdoors at the Clifton Common on Vischer Ferry Rd. from 11am-4pm including crafts, s'mores stations, snowshoeing demonstrations, outhouse races, live owl demonstrations, and food trucks will be on hand.

Other events being held include an introduction to ice fishing demonstration at the Barney Road pond, cross country skiing, and a $4 breakfast at the Elk's Lodge on Mac Elroy Rd starting at 9am.

Town parks will also host different activities throughout the day, including:

  • Dwaaskill Nature Preserve
  • Veteran's Memorial Park
  • Kinn's Road Park
  • Garnsey Park
  • Vischer Ferry Nature Preserve
  • Haye's Nature Park

The Vischer Ferry General Store will host horse & wagon rides, a bonfire, and snowman building (assuming there's still some snow on the ground). And the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Library will hold an outdoor story time around 2 o'clock in front of the library.

So lots to do and it sounds like the weather, although not ideal for 'winter', will be really nice for Saturday.

More info and the official brochure of the day's events can be found here.
