The scene is Syracuse Hancock International Airport where over 1 million passengers fly in and out of each year. Along the way there are many banned and outrageous items found hidden in luggage. You won't believe some of the objects that TSA agents have found. Scroll through the pictures below for 10 surprising smuggles.

According to Syracuse.com, a Central New York man was at the airport on Monday and got in the security check line just like everyone else. When he got to the luggage scanner, agents noticed something suspicious. What was it? A loaded 9mm handgun!

Agents quickly contacted Syracuse Police and the investigation was underway. The suspect explained that he had gone hiking and had the gun in his backpack. He forgot that he had placed it there and brought it to the airport.

Syracuse.com also reports that no charges were filed. The man had a valid pistol license and Syracuse police spokesman Lt. Matthew Malinowski said, "It was case of forgetting the gun was in his bag,”.
