New York State Assembly Aide Charged With Sexual Assault
It’s hard to see someone risk their lucrative job, as an aide to a member of the New York legislator, unnecessarily. I don't know what was going on, to make this man risk it all but this story sounds like something from a movie script.
On Saturday, 40-year old Joseph P. Brady, was arrested at his Watervliet home for allegedly sexually assaulting an 18-year-old woman.
According to New York Upstate, Joseph Brady has a job as the Legislative Director for New York Assemblyman Peter Abbate, Jr. making over $100,000 a year.
It has been reported that Mr. Brady had a 16-year-old boy and the boy’s 18-year-old girlfriend staying with him. He is accused of allegedly sending the 16-year-old boy to a nearby motel to purchase drugs while he remained at his home with the 18-year-old woman.
When the 16-year-old boy returned back to the home, he discovered his girlfriend disoriented and her clothes were in disarray. The two teenagers ran away from Mr. Brady’s home and went to a nearby residence for help.
The teenagers say that Mr. Brady threatened them with what they believed was a firearm. When the police searched Mr. Brady’s home, they did not discover any guns, but they did discover materials that could be used to make fireworks or other explosives.
The FBI became involved and they raided the home in search of firearms, narcotics, and explosives.
Mr. Brady was arrested and charged with Sexual Abuse, which is a felony offense. He was also charged with misdemeanor counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Unlawfully Dealing With a Child and Unlawful Imprisonment.
As of Sunday night, he was still being held at the Albany County Jail with a $50,000 bail.
