Man Arrested For Gunpoint Robbery At South Glenn Falls Motel
An early morning robbery in South Glens Falls has a local man facing a long jail sentence and another man feeling victimized.
Early in the morning on Saturday, around 1:00 am, a 29-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint at the Clearview Motel in South Glens Falls.
According to the South Glens Falls Police Department, an unidentified man was reportedly robbed at gunpoint inside the motel. Officers did not have to look very far to find the suspect, he was reportedly staying inside the same motel.
The victim was speaking with the responding officers when the suspect was spotted inside the motel and positively identified by the victim.
Officers identified 24-year old Isaiah Macuilt, of South Glens Falls, as the suspect. Officers determined that the suspect was staying at the motel and they searched his room for the stolen property. Upon entering his room the officers were able to recover the victim’s stolen property, as well as a loaded handgun.
Mr. Mauilt was arrested and charged with first-degree Robbery (Felony); Extortion (Felony); second-degree Grand Larceny (Felony); Possession of a Loaded Firearm (Felony); second-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon (Felony); Displaying a Firearm (Felony); Using a Weapon (Misdemeanor) and second-degree Menacing (Misdemeanor).
Mr. Mauilt appeared before Ballston Town Justice Brandi Burns. His bail was set at $20,000. He was transported to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility where he is awaiting a hearing that will be scheduled at a later date.
