After a whole lotta rain the last few days, winter will kick back in to wrap up the weekend in Upstate New York and the Capital Region.

Old Man Winter can't make up his mind this year! We get a cold spell, some snow, and then the rain returns to wash it all away. (Is there anything worse than cold rain in the winter? I'll take snow instead or rain any day of the week during the winter!)

The shifty weather pattern continues this weekend with the specter of more snow Sunday night into Monday.

Snow Returns To Albany Sunday Night

We still have yet to get the colossal snowstorm this winter, and this weekend's snow fall won;t change that.

According to your News Channel 13 First Warning Forecast, the rain will return on Sunday and will switch over to snow Sunday into Monday. Current snowfall estimates from AccuWeather are calling for 1 to 3 inches for the greater Albany area and Upstate New York.

In Upstate New York, you can never feel fully secure that snow is completely done until late spring. While we usually do not see a ton of snow in April, it is not unheard of. And if history tells us anything, a big April snowstorm is always possible. Another Upstate New York winter is upon us. And while it is popular for forecasters to predict a cold and snowy winter ahead, how much snow would it actually take to make it an all-time winter when it comes to big a big snowfall total for the season? In the average winter, the National Weather Service (NWS_ says we get 59.2 inches of snow in Albany. We will have to crush that number this winter for the season ahead to make this NWS top 10 list of our snowiest Albany winters on record.
