Gucci Mane Nabs First Platinum Plaque as a Lead Artist
Talk about having a great year. Adding to his list of accomplishments and positive life changes, Gucci Mane has earned his first platinum plaque as a lead artist.
While he previously has been featured on songs that have been immensely popular, including Rae Sremmurd’s “Black Beatles," which is quadruple platinum, he's never had his own plaque as a lead artist until now. His song "Both" produced by Metro Boomin' and Southside and featuring Drake from his 2016 album, The Return of East Atlanta Santa, is officially platinum now.
Gucci went on social media to express his excitement about the recent honor, saying that the power of the mind is not a joke and thanking Drake for the assist on the track. In addition to his platinum status, Gucci has a lot more in store for this year, including a recently announced reality series on BET with fiancé Keyshia Ka'oir, which will show them as they prep for their lavish wedding.
As for music, his most recent release is DropTopWop, a 10-track album that features assists from Offset, Rick Ross, 2 Chainz and Young Dolph, and clocks in at a concise 37-minutes. Produced entirely by Metro Boomin’, the album marked the one-year anniversary of Gucci’s release from prison, solidifying Gucci's glorious return.
