Albany has a championship basketball team for the first time in 31 years. The Albany Patroons brought home the chip with a 106 - 102 over the Yakima Sun Kings.

"This has been a vision. I've been in this a long time," Albany coach Derrick Rowland said according to Times Union. "I just know what these guys can do. They put up with me, I'm demanding as a coach and I know what it takes. These guys stepped up big time tonight and I appreciate it so much."

This isn't the first championship team to win a championship in Albany. The Patroons won their last title in 1988. This was their first year in the TBL and they had a championship season.

"They are champions, they have the heart of a champion," Rowland said. "I knew it wouldn't be over until the horn went off with those guys. I take my hat off to them, they made us work for it. They are a great team, just like us."
