Akon to Bring Energy to 600 MILLION

The "Akon Lights Africa" Initiative has begun!

During late May of 2015, with little to no fan fair, Senegalese-American international superstar Akon has launched the "Akon Lights Africa" in conjunction with the Solar Academy.

Akon is attempting to supply electricity to 600 million people in Africa who currently are without any power.

According to an earlier Reuters report, the Solar Academy aims to is teach people how to maintain solar-powered electricity systems and microgrids, two of the quickest growing within rural Africa. The hope within the organization is that this initiative will create jobs.

It's amazing what we as Americans take for granted. Imagine not having any energy... How could we charge our smart phones?

A big 1 time for Akon - truly putting his resources to great use. Pretty unfortunate that stories like this don't make the front page of newspapers/leading headlines in the news.
