Two Men Allegedly Chased, Shot, And Killed A Man—And Were Not Charged
In today’s blatant racism, Ahmaud Arbery was a 25-year-old former high school football star who loved to exercise and stay in shape. He loved to jog around the area that he lived in around the community. He won’t be able to do that anymore because he was shot and killed while jogging.
According to the New York Times:
The man, Gregory McMichael, 64, called out to his son, Travis McMichael, 34. They grabbed their weapons, a .357 magnum revolver and a shotgun, jumped into a truck and began following Mr. Arbery. “Stop, stop,” they shouted at Mr. Arbery, “we want to talk to you.”
Moments later, after a struggle over the shotgun, Mr. Arbery was killed, shot at least twice.
No one has been arrested or charged in the case, even though the police know exactly who killed Mr. Arbery. This crime happened on Febr. 23 and people are barely hearing about it at the end of April.
The prosecutors in the case cite a Georgia Citizen’s arrest statute that allows citizens to arrest and kill people in self-defense. The New York Times called around to ask a bunch of questions but no one is returning their calls because of “coronavirus.”
This is blatant racism. This case absolutely needs to go to a grand jury. It should come to no surprise to anyone reading this article that the deceased is black and the assaulters are white. This is terrorism and until people who commit crimes like this are held responsible this will continue to happen.
It seems like everyone in the legal system from the police to the District Attorney is sweeping this case under the rug. It seems as if they are trying to aid the killers who killed a man in cold blood for nothing.
Hopefully, his family will be able to see justice, but seeing how everyone in law enforcement is complicit it seems doubtful. Running while black is not a crime and no one should be killed for simply exercising. What is the point of having a court system if the general public can be judge jury and executioner?
From the looks of things, nothing will happen, R.I.P. to Ahmaud Arbery. The family has a Facebook page where you can join them for their fight for justice, on their Facebook page.
