Two Arrested In Shots Fired Incident In Albany
Two women and a man got into a brawl on First Street, shots were fired and the police arrested two people.
On Thursday night, October 1, 2020 around 8:40 PM officers were called to the 200 block of First Street near Henry Johnson Boulevard, for a call of shots fired. Police were in the vicinity and they responded quickly. Upon their arrival they determined that two women were involved in a fight, and things became hectic.
According to the Albany Police Department, police were responding to the location when they saw a man run from the location and into 246 1st St. Police established a perimeter around the location and then began calling out for occupants of the residence. They then spoke to an unnamed woman who advised that 21-year old Tatiana Laquire, of Albany had assaulted her.
The unnamed woman advised that Ms. Laquire punched her several times with her fist. There was also a male subject involved in the incident. Albany resident, 26-year old Alkareem Leigh, struck the woman with a glass bottle and then fired several rounds from a handgun at her.
Initially Mr. Leigh refused to exit the building, but he was eventually taken into custody without any further incidents.
Ms. Laquire was charged with one count of Assault in the Second Degree. Mr. Leigh was charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, one count of Assault in the Second Degree, and one count of Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree.
Both suspects have been scheduled for arraignment today at the Albany City Criminal Court. The unnamed woman was treated and released from an area hospital for her lacerations.
