Today, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania reversed Bill Cosby’s conviction on charges of sexual assault. The reversal means that he is being released from prison today. His publicist, Andrew Wyatt, says that he will hold a
press conference this afternoon to speak about his release.

The 83-year-old entertainer was convicted and sentenced to 3 to 5 years in prison. He already served three years of that sentencing.

The Supreme Court found that during his trial, incriminating evidence should not have been admitted into court. Mr. Cosby had entered into a “Non-prosecution Agreement” with a previous prosecutor which was not honored during his trial. The Supreme Court found that the agreement should have been honored. The Court found that Mr. Cosby did not receive “due process rights“ in the 2018 trial. They also said that Mr. Cosby was being free on a procedural issue that was not relevant to the facts of the crime.

Mr. Cosby‘s accuser is not happy about this decision at all. According to CNN, she was shocked about Cosby’s release. She called his release, “a sad statement about a woman’s value“. Women who feel that they have been victimized will most certainly be unhappy with Mr. Cosby‘s release. His supporters are definitely elated.

Mr. Cosby is a famous man who women allege that he sexually molested them. Mr. Cosby’s supporters say that he was not treated fairly. He’s an elderly man and the alleged incident occurred 10 years before his trial. When we look at other celebrities who have been accused of sexual misconduct very few, if any, received jail time. One example of this is Matt Lauer. Criminal charges have never been filed against him, and he’s never spent one night in jail.

Here is what the Capital Region is saying about Cosby's release

Michelle From Schenectady:

I thought the initial sentence was a little hard 10 years in jail for something Bill Cosby did 14 years ago seemed a little harsh. Bill Cosby isn't really a threat to anyone he is 83 years old let the man live out the rest of his life.

Lolita From Albany

I don't know all the details of the case but if he admitted to wrongdoing then he needs to serve his time because that is wrong and too many women are victims of men in power.

Lea From Schenectady

Good he is old leave that mean alone! He was denied a fair trial! Im not saying he didn't do it ... but why you wait two and seven hundred years to come forward?

Marcus from Albany

Well the article said that he would buy the drugs and offer them. He didn't force anyone to consume those drugs. You're an adult you can say no. You can get up and walk away
