The greatest turntable ever created is back!

A few years back, Technics' parent company Panasonic decided to discontinue the beloved Technics SL1200 turntable line, one that had been in production and used by the worlds greatest DJs since 1978. The SL1200-MK2 has been the standard turntable & weapon of choice since its creation.

Whenever you've heard me on Hot 99.1, I've always used turntables to mix during the Heat Wave... It's just my preference. There's nothing like the feel of vinyl for me.

With today's technology available, turntables have been all but phased out from regular use and DJs have moved to CDJs (or CD turntables) or all-in-one DJ controllers, which has the mixer and CDJ-like platters in one unit.

Panasonic has recently announced that they will be revamping the 1200 turntable line with the release of the SL1200 MK-5G and the super limited edition SL1200 MK-5GAE.

Glad to see an old friend get a very slight facelift and decide to come out and play again. Unfortunately, if you want your hands on one of these bad boys, you're gonna cough up close to $4,000 for the SL1200-GAE. If you're like me, you'll continue to hit CraigsList for a deal on some used SL1200-MK2s.

They are pretty as hell, though.
