Rensselaer Man Arrested For Intentions Of Child Sex Abuse

Once again a grown man has been arrested for allegations of sexual misconduct with a child.  This time the predator traveled to meet a 10-year-old when undercover officers arrested him.

Charles Wagner, a 53-years old man from Rensselaer County, was arrested when he traveled to Broome County with intentions to have sexual contact with a child.

News 10 reports, The FBI Syracuse Mid-State Child Exploitation Task Force investigated allegations of the 53-year-old man who arranged to meet a 10-year-old child with an interest in having sexual contact with the child.

The child’s parents worked along with the police and made arrangements to meet with the predator under the guise of a sexual liaison with a child.  During the investigation, Wagner described the sexual acts he intended to perform on the child.

Wagner arrived at the pre-arranged location thinking that he was going to meet and take advantage of a child, instead, he was met by law enforcement officers.  He was arrested on the spot!  He was arraigned and remanded into custody.

If Wagner is found guilty he is facing a huge fine and jail time.  He could potentially spend 10 years to life in prison and receive a fine up to $250,000

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant US Attorney Kristen Grabowski.  Law-enforcement officers are asking members of the public who may have more information about the case to call the Federal Bureau of Investigation at 607-778-7240.
