So I may be a little late but hey better late than never. I stopped by Troy Kitchen last night for their poetry and open mic night. It was a nice little turnout, great poets and song writers took to the stage and the bar had some nice and very affordable drinks to sip on during the evening.

Every Monday at Troy Kitchen they open their doors to the community to stop in for spoken word, dope music, and to get a drink and some food to eat. It's free with the option to donate to help keep the open mic night going but no pressure. They also have a featured speaker once a month.

My favorite part of the open mic was not only the poets doing their thing but the crowd was able to interact as well. The hosts provide a blank piece of paper and everyone was given the opportunity to write a line down without seeing what anyone else wrote. At the end of the night, the crowd's poem would be read.
