New York State’s Preferred Postgame Meal Will Blow Your Mind
Every athlete, both current and former, has this memory. You've just finished up playing a game. You poured your heart and soul into it, you gave it your all, and naturally, you've worked up quite the hunger. You ask Mom and Dad to stop on the way home so you can replenish your nutrients, and get ready to relax. Of course, Mom and Dad oblige, and pull off the road at the nearest restaurant.
Now, be honest. When you picture this memory, did Sbarro ever come to mind?
Believe it or not, the majority of people answered yes to this question, according to MaxPreps and Thrillist. Don't believe me? Check this out...
The great state of New York is craving pizza for their postgame meal. It's an interesting choice, but far from the most unique on the list. First and foremost, I was hoping that my home state, Connecticut, could do a little better than Subway. Massachusetts choosing Dunkin' Donuts is a little too on-the-nose for me, but no one should be surprised.
A few other states have a few that I want to highlight. First, a shoutout to Illinois, a state that already has my heart, but has gone a step further with their choice of McDonald's. The state of Montana choosing Ted's Montana Grill is incredible, both from a self-referential standpoint, and because the restaurant itself serves a bison short ribs dish that will knock you out cold from deliciousness.
The states that feature ice cream choices also make me smile, and remind me of the warm summer evenings after little league baseball games. Nothing made me happier than a cup or cone from a place like Ben & Jerry's (Vermont), Sonic (Oklahoma) and Dairy Queen (Minnesota).
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to check a labeled map to make sure I referenced the correct states. In the mean time, which restaurant would you have chosen for a postgame meal in New York?
