It seems like day by day racist people are getting bolder and bolder. From online trolling to calling the police on people for nothing, and even insulting store employees all in the name of racism.

This is happening all around the country and Albany isn’t immune. Here is how it all happened at the Home Depot location on Central Avenue according to Times Union.

...the man lost his cool, letting loose with a string of epithets and telling Rucker, who is black, that his opinion did not count.

"You're from the ghetto," said the man, who was white. "What do you know?"

...

Rucker eventually concluded that enough was enough. He left his booth, walked up to the man, demanded he leave the store and added this: "You're lucky I'm at work, because if I wasn't you wouldn't be talking to me like this."

...

"I'm a black man, and I have dealt with all levels of racism all my life," Rucker said. "I am not going to accept racist behavior at work, home, the streets or anyplace else.

This happened Thursday afternoon. Rucker was fired five days later.

The sad part about this is this man has been working for the retail store for over 10 years and was fired for simply defending himself from blatant racism. I hope Rucker lawyers up because I can smell a lawsuit coming on for the store.

I also suspect the store manager of sympathizing with the white supremacist who attacked Rucker. I wonder if he would've been fired for standing up to a man sexually harassing a female employee? Probably not this seems totally unfair, also Rucker has been working for the company for 10 years started out at $12 and was making $12.78 at the time he was fired. They didn't care about Rucker at all you can tell that about their actions. I’ll keep you posted on how this works out for Rucker.
