The Price Chopper grocery store, in the area of Route 32 and County Route 404 in Westlawn, was the scene of a brutal fight on Saturday. Apparently 50-year old Frank Bryant was involved in a verbal altercation with another male in the parking lot of the grocery store. The verbal altercation became so heated that it became extremely violent. 50-year-old Bryant allegedly struck the unnamed victim several times with a metal pipe before he fled the scene of the assault.

When the State Police arrived at the Price Chopper grocery store, the victim was lying in the parking lot beside his vehicle, with visible physical injuries. The victim was taken by ambulance to the Albany Medical Center for treatment. The extent of his injuries are not known at this time.

Officers responding to the location were advised that the suspect had already left the scene. Officers were able to find Mr. Frank Bryant, later in the day, at his residence.

Frank Bryant was charged with first-degree assault, which is a felony, and 4th-degree criminal possession of a weapon, which is a misdemeanor. He is scheduled for court at a later date.

This incident is a good example of why you should not mess with people. Nobody ever explained where the metal pipe came from. Since Mr. Bryant was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, it leads me to believe that he came prepared and had the pipe in his car just in case he needed it. At least that’s my theory!
