Colonie Central High installed vaping detectors in their bathrooms. If a student is vaping the sensor will pick it up. A text and email will then alert the staff. The school hopes to install nine more detectors throughout the building this fall. Do you think these vaping detectors will effective?

According to CBS 6

If they’re activated they send a text and email to assistant principals, the school resource officer and school principal Christopher Robilotti. The detectors tell them where and when it happened.

Smoking in the high school bathroom has always been a concern even when I was in high school. They used to smoke old fashioned cigarettes in the bathroom sometimes weed. I personally don't believe that any amount of technology will be able to stop teenagers from doing the wrong thing.

I'm sure these teens know all the dangers of Vaping, but yet they still find a way to do it. I think the detectors may deter a few from vaping in the bathroom but they will find somewhere else to do it. Seems like a waste of money to me. If they truly wanted to stop kids from smoking, just put an adult in the bathroom throughout the day, but what do you think?
