21 Savage's first major label LP just earned itself a very solid opening. Yesterday (July 16), the folks at Billboard revealed the rapper's Issa Album moved a total of 77,000 equivalent units in its first week. That was good enough for a No. 2 debut in Billboard's 200 album chart.

21's No. 2 debut puts him just behind JAY-Z's 4:44 album, which moved 222,000 equivalent album units. 22,000 of 21's total equivalent album units sold came from traditional album sales, while 51,000 of them came from streaming equivalent albums (SEA) and another 7,000 came from track equivalent albums (TEA). Not bad.

Checking in at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart is Kendrick Lamar's DAMN. (54,000), while DJ Khaled's Grateful lands at No. 4. Rap's clearly making its presence felt on the charts.

As Billboard notes, this week's rap releases take up the first four slots of the Billboard 200 chart for the first time since the week of April 18, 2015. During that time, the albums holding down the top four slots were Wale’s The Album About Nothing (No. 1), Furious 7 soundtrack (rising 17-2), the debut of Ludacris’ Ludaversal album (No. 3) and Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly (No. 4).

Debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 is just the latest in a stream of cool things 21's done recently. Within the last week or so, the rapper copped himself an icy chain with a pendant created in his own image—except it has a likeness of Jason from the Friday the 13th horror film franchise. Dope.

21 also took his new girlfriend Amber Rose on a trip through the East Atlanta neighborhood he grew up in. During their trip, Rose and 21 spent some time with the rapper's grandma and hung out with some kids from the block. For her part, Rose looked perfectly at home.

Salute to 21.
