Heads up, Capital Region! Here's your chance to be on HBO!

So many films and television shows have used the Capital Region as their filming locations, but one of the biggest productions here in recent memory is HBO’s The Gilded Age.

Set in 1880s New York City, The Gilded Age follows Marian Brooke (Louisa Jacobson) who,

inadvertently becomes enmeshed in a social war between one of her aunts, a scion of the old-money set, and her stupendously rich neighbors, a ruthless railroad tycoon and his ambitious wife, George and Bertha Russell. – HBO

Troy’s beautifully preserved downtown provided the perfect place to shoot season one, as it looks more like gilded NYC than NYC itself.

Gilded Glamour Is Coming Back

Location scouts were recently atop the Hart-Cluett Museum looking for the perfect rooftop in Troy to superimpose a CGI Brooklyn Bridge behind. Season two will feature the NYC landmark’s 1883 grand opening.

Several Trojan storefronts were featured in season one, the park at Washington Square has subbed in for Madison Square Park, and - maybe most impressive of all - Monument Square was turned into Times Square at night.

Gilded Age Wants You!

Here’s your big chance to make HBO: producers are currently casting extras to play upper-, middle-, and working-class people from 1880s New York City. (I doubt you get to pick which, sorry.) Extras must be available for TBD filming dates August 1 through 26 and preferably live in Troy. Applicants must also be able to schedule costume fittings and required COVID tests.
