Capital Region Kwanzaa Celebration
Celebrate Unity, Creativity, Purpose and principles of Kwanzaa with the area's largest 7 day celebration.
Each principle is celebrated with a ceremony a various locations across the Capital Region, starting on December 26th and ends on January 1st.
Kwanzaa was created in 1966, as the first specifically African-American holiday. The name Kwanzaa derives from the Swahili phrase matunda ya kwanza, meaning "first fruits of the harvest",[3] although a more conventional translation would simply be "first fruits".
