DWI Crackdown St. Patrick’s Weekend Through March 18
Make sure you celebrate St. Patrick's Day weekend safely. The New York State Police will be out in full force to keep you safe right through Wednesday.According to the New York State Police, they will be setting up checkpoints and looking out for drunk, impaired, and reckless drivers during the St. Patrick's Day weekend. The enforcement is funded by the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee and will begin today, March 13 and run through Wednesday, March 18.
State police will be conducting additional DWI patrols and many sobriety checkpoints throughout the state. They will also be cracking down and ticketing distracted drivers who are using cell phones. Police will also be looking for underage drinking and unlawful alcohol sales to minors.
There is also an app called "Have A Plan." This enables all New Yorkers to call a cab and program a designated driver list. You can also use Uber and Lyft to get a safe ride home.
