An Albany man has a lot of explaining to do after the police responded to a call for a burglary in progress at his home last night.

According to CBS6, Members of the Albany Police Department responded to a call for a burglary in progress on Tuesday night around 10:45 p.m. in a home on Manning Boulevard.

When officers responded, they were told that the person responsible for the burglary had already left the scene.

During their response to the home, officers discovered a resident of the home with approximately 51 pounds of marijuana in his possession.

The resident, 25-year-old Christian DeLuna of Albany was arrested and taken into custody. He was charged with first-degree Possession of Marijuana. He was arraigned on Wednesday morning at the Albany Criminal Court and released. Although he was arraigned, his court date has not been announced.

How unlucky can you be? How coincidental is it that the victim of a burglary in progress gets in so much trouble when the police respond to his home?

Police officers have not confirmed whether a burglary was actually in progress or not. They also did not confirm if further charges would be placed against Mr. Deluca. At any rate, I’m sure that he never expected to end up being arrested that day.

Somehow it just seems ironic that the victim ends up behind bars and there’s no word about what happens to the burglary suspect. We will certainly have to keep an eye on this story to see how it pans out.
