If you've ever thought about becoming a mentor for kids, Big Brothers Big Sister of the Capital Region is now looking for new Big Brothers.

According to Spectrum News BBBS is looking to recruit 30 new Big Brothers so now is a great time to get involved.

With all thats going on in our community, these kids need positive role models and mentors. I remember from my own personal experience as a kid, having a Big Brother was a great experience. When I was in grade school, I would go to Siena College a couple times a month to hang out with my big brother who was attending college there. He was so awesome. The whole experience was exiting. A school bus would pick me and a group of kids up from school and transport us to the college. Once there, we were involved with activities. First he would help me with my homework. Then we would go to do some sort of activities like playing basketball in the gym, arts and crafts, and my favorite part..going to the cafeteria to eat. I had so much fun and learned a lot. Being apart of the program helped keep me out of trouble and it had me exited about going to college at an early age.

I encourage anyone who is interested in becoming a mentor or a Big Brother/Sister to do so. Even if you are unable to do so yourself, you may know someone who would make a great candidate so feel free to pass on the info. For more details go to BBBS
