Albany Law Student Faces 32 Years For Trading Illegal Explicit Photos
Sometimes I just look at people and think why, why would you do something so stupid? That’s the first question that comes to my mind when I think about a man with ties to the Albany area. This is definitely Big Dummy Files worthy.
Michael Fish was on a path to having a brilliant future. Who knows why he went in the wrong direction and began illegal computer activities while a student at SUNY Plattsburgh. Court documents state that Fisher was an undergraduate student at SUNY Plattsburgh between 2016 and 2019.
During that period of time, he accessed dozens of computer accounts for unscrupulous reasons. Michael Fisher continued his illegal computer activities as a law student at Albany Law School. The computer accounts belonged to unsuspecting women. Fisher used those accounts to obtain login information for social media accounts, Google accounts, and iCloud accounts.
According to WRGB when he got into the victims’ computer accounts, he found embarrassing and sometimes sexually explicit photos of the women. Fisher then went on to make money off of the photos he found.
He traded the images online and sometimes he even altered them to add nude photos next to graduation photos. You would think that someone that was in law school would know better than to be so reckless.
Federal agents obtained and served a warrant on Mr. Fisher. When the agents showed up at his house he tried to outsmart them by hiding his laptop and he attempted to get rid of a USB device. The agents found the device and the computer. When the federal agents got into the computer, they found hundreds of files with child pornography on it.
Michael Fish pled guilty to identity theft, possession of child pornography and computer intrusion. I really hope he felt that it was worth it, because he’s looking at a maximum of 32 years in prison.
