A fourth person has been shot and killed in Albany, and this time the victim is an 18-year-old girl.

According to Times Union, On Monday afternoon around 3:00 p.m., police officers were called to the area of Essex Street and Watervliet Avenue for a report of multiple shots fired. When the officers arrived at the scene, they discovered an 18-year-old girl lying in the street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The teenager was treated at the scene and then transported to the Albany Medical Center. Sadly, the victim succumbed to her injuries. The victim’s identity has not been released yet.

Police investigation revealed that there was a black car at the scene that had been struck by multiple gunshots. The vehicle had broken glass and evidence at the scene indicates that the vehicle was hit multiple times.

Officer Steve Smith is the Public Information Officer for the Albany Police Department. He says the shooting is still under investigation and that the total number of shots fire is not known at this time.

People who live in the neighborhood are shocked and concerned. One neighbor said, “My mother heard the gunshots and now someone lost their life, a young girl“. Another neighbor also expressed their concern. That neighbor said, “People didn’t even know that this street existed or that the street was here and that there were houses on this block. Yea it’s really sad, it’s scary.“
