Rapper went on Twitter today (June 9) to express his disappointment in the lack of information provided on the death of Saieed Ivey. Ivey was a former high school basketball star at Simeon Career Academy in Chicago who was killed today in Los Angeles. Chance's tweet, which was made earlier this afternoon, claimed the Los Angeles Police Department was responsible for Ivey's death.

"LAPD killed Saieed on his birthday and no one knows why," Chance the Rapper wrote earlier today. "Haven't seen an article or police statement yet. Miles, Jah, Spenzo hold ya head."

Andy Neiman, the Commanding Officer of LAPD Media Relations, initially stated that his department had no information on such an incident. He later responded to Chance the Rapper with a tweet saying that Saieed Ivey was discovered dead by Monterey Park Police. The second tweet has since been deleted.

The latter response by Neiman does match the latest reports on the Saieed Ivey's death though. The Chicago Sun Times reports that Monterey Park Police responded to call of shots being fired at an apartment complex. Police found that Ivey was dead upon their arrival as the result of gunshot wound.

KCBS in Chicago reports that Saieed Ivey was shot after getting into an argument with another man around 5 a.m. this morning. Ivey's body was found in the back of a Mercedes Benz. In a tragic twist, family told KCBS that Ivey moved to Los Angeles to get away from the pervasive gun violence in Chicago.
