A 2009 Dodge pickup truck hit the unidentified woman at 10:40 a.m. as she tried to cross the thoroughfare near Vly Road, police said. The woman's death was announced before 3 p.m.
The driver, 54-year-old William Warner of Schenectady, stopped immediately, and alcohol and speed have been ruled out as factors for the driver, police said.
This isn’t the first time a pedestrian has been seriously injured or killed on Central Avenue Ten pedestrians have been killed on Central Avenue in Albany, Colonie, and Schenectady from 2012 to 2016.
This is a significant number of people to be killed in such a short period of time.
