Before Ugly God was a budding rap star and 2017 XXL Freshman, he was more like the average teen, going to high school and playing for the basketball team.

Video recently surfaced from one of his games from 2015. It shows his Biloxi High School squad playing against Gulfport High School. Ugly God, who is rocking No. 5, doesn't have any "highlights" on the highlight reel, but he does show off some hustle. In the end, his team won 36-30. This is just a small sample size, but it looks like Ugly picked the right route in choosing to pursue rap.

Of course, he isn't the first MC to have a basketball past. Rappers like Cam'ron, 2 Chainz and Stalley all hooped on their high school teams.

The Booty Tape rapper will be performing with the rest of the XXL Freshman; the Bronx’s A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie; Portland, Ore.’s Aminé; Oakland’s Kamaiyah; Atlanta’s Kap G, Ventura, Calif.’s Kyle; Tokyo representer Madeintyo; ATL’s Playboi Carti; Philadelphia’s PnB Rock and this year’s 10th Spot winner, Broward County, Fla.’s XXXTentacion at the 2017 XXL Freshman show in Los Angeles.

The show goes down Wed., July 12 at The Novo on W. Olympic Blvd. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. The event is ages 16 and up. You can purchase tickets here.
