Wale On New Energy, Therapy, J. Cole, Drake And More [VIDEO]
Wale recently sat down for a Breakfast Club interview, chopping it up with DJ Envy, Angela Yee, and Charlamagne Tha God. While many topics are covered, one of the more interesting moments arrives when Wale speaks on being publicly addressed on J. Cole's "False Prophets."
Charlamagne is here for answers on the nature of the exchange, and Wale proceeds to paint a picture.
"I woke up to like forty-five text messages," says Wale. "I went to the gym, sat in the sauna for a little bit, went in the studio, wrote what I had to write. The next day, I listened to it in the morning, mixed it, put it out, and then went to North Carolina and went to go see him."
Charlamagne keeps pressing, saying "but ya'll really friends though!" Wale clarifies that there wasn't any dissing involved, but Charla wonders why the whole exchange couldn't simply be handled via phone call. Wale has his theories. "Maybe it was the shock," he speculates. "Maybe he wanted to give it to me another way. Cole always tell me I don't listen...That's what makes us so close, it's very raw and uncut." In the end, Wale has no regrets about how it all went down, saying "we showed a whole bunch of youngins you can be enemies, best friends, all that, but you can still settle it like gentlemen."
