Violent Bloody Weekend In Albany
Friday afternoon was very violent in Albany. Six men were shot in the vicinity of Quail Street and First Street and one of them died.
According to Daily Gazette, around 2:30 p.m. the Albany Police Department responded to a call for shots fired in the vicinity of Quail St. and First St. When officers arrived at the scene, they found 35-year old Sharf Addalim suffering from severe gunshot wounds. The Albany man was taken to the Albany Medical Center Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Shortly after Mr. Addalim arrived at the hospital, five other men arrived with non-life-threatening gunshot injuries. A 29-year old man was shot in the torso; a 29-year old man was shot in the foot; a 28-year old man was shot in the leg; a 23-year old man was shot in the buttocks, and a 21-year old man was shot in the hand.
Officers with the Albany Police Department investigated the shooting and they made one arrest. They announced at a press conference that they have arrested 21-year old Jhajuan Sabb of Schenectady. Sabb was charged with second-degree Murder.
Unfortunately, Mr. Addalim was not the only young man to lose his life to gun violence in Albany on Friday night. At approximately 6:30 p.m. officers responded to the vicinity of Henry Johnson Blvd, and Central Avenue for a report of shots fired.
A young man, 39-year old Lashon Turner was found shot in the torso. He was transported to the Albany Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
The shooter in this incident is still at large but Albany Police Chief, Eric Hawkins, vows to find the perpetrators.
