Troy Woman Arrested For Sexual Abuse At A Children’s Detention Center
A Troy resident has been arrested for allegedly raping a juvenile in a correctional facility in 2020.
According to Spotlight News, Michesha Cancer, a 28-year old woman from Troy, was arrested at her Troy home for allegedly raping a child at the Capital District Youth Center.
In August of 2020 Ms. Cancer was employed by Berkshire Farm. Berkshire Farms is the company that is responsible for the day to day operations of the Capital District Youth Center which is located on Shaker Road in Albany.
The complaint alleges that Ms. Cancer raped the victim while she was employed at the youth detention center.
Julie Brennan is a spokesperson for Berkshire Farms. She said, “The safety and well-being of our youth in our care is our highest priority. Berkshire Farm Center has zero tolerance for the alleged behavior on the part of the former staff member. This person no longer works for the agency. We will continue to work in collaboration with the authorities as needed.”
According to Lt. Daniele Belles, Ms. Cancer was arrested and charged with one felony count of Raping a Person Unable to Consent to Sex.
The victim’s name has not been released and authorizes have not said what Ms. Cancer’s job was at the youth center.
Ms. Cancer appeared in the Colonie Town Court for arraignment.
It is extremely sad and frustrating to hear about vulnerable children being taken advantage of. Ms Cancer must be considered innocent until she is proven guilty, and I really hope that she didn’t do what she has been accused of.
