A drive-by shooting in a residential part of Troy resulted in a young boy being hospitalized on Monday afternoon. Troy Police say the 11-year-old was inside his home when the gunshots rang out.  Let's all hope for his family and the community's sake, he's okay.

Video from News 10 ABC shows Troy police investigating the scene for clues and you can see the damage left from bullet holes on the facade of the home as well as the window.

According to the latest report, "several shots" were fired into the home at 24 O'Neill Street at around 3:45 Monday.  News 10 reporters on the scene say that he was taken to the hospital but there is no word on his condition at this time.

I saw this story and immediately thought of another 11-year-old boy named Ayshawn Davis who was senselessly murdered in a Troy drive-by shooting back in September. Let's hope that this Troy incident does not mirror that horrible fall tragedy.

Monday's shooting prompted Troy Mayor Patrick Madden to release this statement :

“I was briefed by Troy Police this afternoon regarding the shooting incidents on O’Neil Street and 15th Streets. These cowardly acts have no place in our community, and Troy Police will devote the resources necessary, including our law enforcement partners, to track down those responsible. Detectives continue to investigate, but I urge anyone with information to come forward." - Troy Mayor Patrick Madden
