If you were hoping to be able to vote early in Troy, I’m sorry to tell you but that will not be happening this year. Despite the city pledging a $15,000 budget to cover the costs of the third location, the Board of Elections shut it down. Now you must ask why on earth would they not want to provide another spot to make it convenient for the people of Troy to vote?

It’s no secret that traveling all the way to Schodack or Brunswick (the only two polling locations) is difficult for people who are living within the city of Troy and lack transportation. Troy is the county seat, to not have a polling place there makes no sense and is an insult.

Let’s keep it real here, for a moment. Perhaps there is a certain demographic that they do not want to allow to vote early. Ever hear of voter suppression? Let’s talk about it.
