However, after that any real Mets pitching prospect is at least a few years away. The Mets AAA team in Syracuse is dead last in the league in pitching, sporting a whopping 6.18 ERA. ERA is meaningless some say? The Syracuse Mets are last in wins as well. How about AA Binghamton? Arms are on the way, right? Well, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies are second to last in the league in pitching.

Monday night, New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso had just hit his 18th home run of the season. He was rounding 3rd base and as he faced his teammates in the dugout he began to do an imitation of a Pete Towsend guitar windmill. Alonso was indicating to his fellow Amazin's that they were rockin'. Pete Alonso likes to have fun and he's not afraid to show it. Following his second Home Run Derby Championship, the young first baseman is blossoming into a star. But is Pete Alonso one of the Top 5 Sports Stars in the Empire State, I don't think so. Let's take a look.

The baseball fans that still watch the All Star Game want to see the game's best players. That's it in a nutshell. Jacob deGrom, Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa are some of the games biggest stars. Jacob deGrom is among the top 2 or 3 very best. If it's not important to those players, why should it be important to the fans?
