Suspected Upstate NY Bank Robber Caught! Watch Video of His Arrest!

A suspected bank robber has been caught following a police chase in Central New York this week. Watch the video below showing the moment New York State Troopers and local agencies surround the getaway vehicle and arrest the man.

What lead up to the moment of arrest sounds like something out of an action movie. Bank robbery, suspect on the run, getaway vehicle, police chase, spike strips to disable the vehicle and eventual arrest. The big difference is, this is real-life and it happened in Upstate New York.

According to New York State Police, NBT Bank in Lysander was robbed on July 22nd. The suspect entered the bank and handed a note to the teller demanding money. The description from employees and surveillance cameras indicated that this was a white male wearing a blue surgical mask, baseball cap, and a grey camouflage zipped jacket

On Wednesday August 3rd, a Cicero Police Officer spotted a vehicle officials had been looking for in relation to 2 bank robberies including the one in Lysander. As the officer approached, the vehicle fled and pursuit was underway.

The police chase started at a park in Brewerton, NY and continued onto I-81 toward Oswego County and then South into Onondaga County. As other law enforcement agencies were alerted an Onondaga County Sheriff Deputy deployed stop sticks in an attempt to disable the vehicle.

New York State Police arrested 32-year-old Andrew J. Bell of Liverpool, NY and was charged with the following:

• Robbery 3^rd degree, a class “D” felony (NBT Bank)
• Assault 2^nd degree, a class “D” felony
• Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer 3^rd degree, class “A” misdemeanor
• Reckless endangerment 2^nd degree, class “A” misdemeanor
• Numerous Vehicle & Traffic violations
