Heroes come in all walks of life, lines of duty, and nooks and crannies. They are first responders, mentors, leaders, military personnel, and teachers.  And sometimes, they are simply a kind neighbor. September’s County Waste Hometown Hero is Ashley Carmichael from Potter Hollow and we are honored here at WGNA to tell you her story.

Ashley takes the phrase love your neighbor as yourself to heart. This year, a storm caused a tree to fall against Ashley’s next-door neighbor’s house; a woman in her eighties that Ashley helps out. Without thinking twice or being called on for help, Ashley sought out many options to get the tree taken care of for her elderly neighbor before it could do more damage to the property.

We, along with County Waste, would like to salute Ashley, as she is an ordinary person doing extra ordinary acts.
